When I was alerted that September 19 was International Talk Like a Pirate Day, I wondered if you'd remember.
I don't know any pirates personally, so I'll give a shout-out to my favorite cinematic pirate: Mr. Gibbs. (There are more famous ones, but they're too pretty.)
Yes I remembered. It is even more significant that I remembered to blog about it!
I've also been recently schooled about the pirate - dragon boat connection. In Victoria BC there is a team called the Scurvy Dogs that races in full pirate costumes. Ok, the tiller did leave his parrot on shore. But they were awesome.
I'm aware of Steve the Pirate in his connection to Firefly but I have not seen the movie.
I prefer him in a hawaiian shirt. Which, incidentally, was the fashion choice of my date to the last pirate festival I attended and it confused me greatly.

Speaking of modern day pirates, where does Steve the Pirate rank on your list?

Steve the Pirate is quite similar in look to my pirate-American student last year.
So sad classes weren't in session for the even this year.

I know you're more of a Nathan Fillion person, but you can see Alan Tudyk trip out in a pair of suits (gray and birthday) in Death at a Funeral.
But you really need to see Dodgeball first. Best athlete cameo ever.
