That's so Portland

Since some of Portland's natives have been returning home lately I figured I should get around to blogging about stuff they should notice.

To start with, I must remind you of Portland's history. Most are aware of hte Lewis and Clark/Oregon Trail connection, The Hudson Bay Trading Company, and Bunco Kelly's shanghai tunnels. Fewer are aware of the history of Benson Bubblers and the focus of today's blog the horse rings that can still be found on some of our fair city's sidewalks. Our city has always been a fan of the horse. Some of the earliest public transportation was horsedrawn carriages. We still have mounted police (although no spiffy red uniforms to fit my taste) and statues of the majestic animal abound. But, sadly, not to many of us need a place to tie up our pals while we pop into the pub or do some grocery shopping anymore.

Recently, however, a local artist has decided it is time to utilize the old horse rings thusly:

Keep Portland Weird, indeed.
