I care, but this was announced back in September. Must have slipped your radar. (Gaydar?)
Lots of women have co-hosted the Oscars, starting with Agnes "Endora" Moorehead in 1948 and including Carol Burnett, Goldie Hawn, Jane Fonda, and Diahann Carroll.
But you're right: the only solo female hosts are Whoopi and Ellen. She's been the best Emmy host of the past several years (though Conan was better than expected), and will handle it nimbly.
I heard it but I didn't care back then. I figured we should wait to discuss until it was closer to the telecast. Plus, I'm starting to plan my dad's B-day party (which falls on Oscar night). I need to rent a red carpet...but I digress.
I wished Carol Burnett had been given the full honor at some point. She would have rocked.

Probably no one cares but since she is only the second woman to host I thought it was a little on the significant side.
I wasn't as impressed by John Stewart as I'd hoped to be. Let's just let Clooney host it. Has no one thought of that???
