And I'm waiting for you to follow me...

I got a chance to see Julie and her company's production of Tommy this weekend. I've been begged to return on another weekend for reasons that may or may not be blogged about here.

Who's with me? (Quinn I'm specifically calling you out...) We have until July 15th.

Smack-Talk Sunday (Mariners edition)

This is fitting since I'll be spending this day at Safeco Field, for better or for worse.

Neel brought up a good point about Actual Yankees fans (you know, ones from the Bronx) in last week's post. Let me tell you, Seattle fans can relate to being embarassed by their team's management making horrible HORRIBLE decisions.

We now have Weaver on the DL with "tendinitis"...Riiiiiiggggght. All pitchers have tendon issues. But have all pitchers gone 0-6 with a 14.32 ERA in his first six starts? Are they trying to save face or just rotation space? 'cause they sure aren't saving $8.325 million a year...

And so I make my own poster this week:

Smack Talk Sunday (Yankees edition)

So the evil empire made a big announcement this week.

"So let me get this straight ... we're supposed to be scared of the
Yankees hiring a 45-year-old fat dude with groin problems? Really?"

Greetings from the river...

Yes. That is me. All in black. With a stopwatch.
So much for variety in my hobbies.

Smack-Talk Sunday (Photo edition)

Not that any of our managers are Bonds fans (even with his record he didn't go until the 18th round and then she dropped him for a guy off waivers). I beleive Mortal Wombats ranked him 666th.

I mentioned before that my buddy is a Cubs fan, and many on our league are M's fans who loved Lou Pinella so this hits most of us.

This could be any number of teams...
Oh, how I hate the rally monkey!!!

'Nuff said.

I like to boogie

Following Julie's lead (even though she took at least two songs I would have used)...

10 Songs that make me happy. In no particular order:

And She Was - Talking Heads
I like it so much I titled my blog with it. It used to be my theme song in college years. That does not, however, mean I spent college getting high behind the Yoohoo factory.

Let It Be - The Beatles
This is the one that can lift me up out of the depths of despair. I might have to leave it on repeat for a hour but it will work eventually.

I Will Follow - U2
Again, so many of their songs could qualify but the opening guitar on this one gets me every time. Julie already mentioned the ORIGINAL Sweetest Thing (I miss the Australian accent of the DJ that introduced it on my tape saying "the flip-side" and "The 12 inch...").

The Christians and the Pagans or The Babysitter's Here or...
Dar Williams just makes me happy!!!

Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order
The Frente! version rocks as well the original is the one that make me want to dance.

Music Box Dancer- Frank Mills
Oh to be 5 again! Whenever I hear this song...I am!

Close to Me - The Cure
What? You don't think of the Cure when looking for uplifting song selections?

Popular - Wicked
It's not about aptitude it's the way you're viewed.

Johnny Saucep'n - Moxy Fruvous
Not only could I not find a video or mp3 but I couldn't figure out how to add an umlaut for their name! Damn my love for obscure defunct Canadian bands!

Bolero - Ravel
Seriously...Take some time and watch the clip from Allegro non Troppo (here's the second part) it will change how you think about this song! Or, if you don't like that one you can always watch this.

Dial-a-song

A couple of us were listening to Lily Allen's Knock E'm Out when the subject of the rejection hotline came up so I thought I should give it a call (503-450-9938) and see what exactly it does say...

Go call, I'll wait here.

Are you done laughing? Now tell me, where was this when I was in college?

I've got to go, uh, my house is on fire...

Draggin' boats

I realize I have not given you an update on how the boating is going. Here goes:

Ow!

We found a coach with some experience...Yay!

Unfortunately, when added to a boatfull of inexperienced cubicle dwellers the above is the outcome. I'm gonna go soak in a tub now.
