The Joy of Sox

My Mariners are down that's true,
So next, my blood bleeds red and blue.
Oritz how I love thee! And Damon , how fine!
And a walkoff to brighten this bad day of mine.
Will there be joy in mudville this weekend I wonder?
Or will there be another (Grady) little blunder?
Last year, how you thrilled us! And filled us with pride.
Please, take us this year on the same glorious ride.
An invitation, at least, to the party...to play.
I don't want to say goodbye to my boys this Sunday.

This is all true...

I have a love/hate relationship with Amazon.com, we all know that.

Today...it is love. much love. For they delivered unto me three, count 'em three new (to me) Eddie Izzard DVDs. Finally I have Definite Article, Unrepeatable, and Glorious. I already had Dressed to Kill and Circle. Now if I can get Sexie (the only tour I was lucky enough to see live) I should have a complete set. Damn...he can be quite HOT!

AND to make life even happier I read that Eddie has been cast in a new movie. Yay!
It is being directed by Julie Taymor. YAY!
It is a musical using BEATLES SONGS!!! YAY! YAY! YAY!
It also features BONO!

Praise the Lord and pass the allen wrench

I LOVE IKEA! I know I'm not alone in my lust for inexpensive funishings. And I also know that many hate the store with an equal amount of passion. Currently we do not have one in Portland so, where as some people get to pop over any time they want because it is 5 minutes from their house I have to drive all the way to Seattle to pack my car with the ready-to-assemble goodness. My friend Amanda just moved to Eugene and needs much in the way of funiture so today we took a road trip. (sorry Julie, we would have called but I know you are in production and I forgot my cell phone).

On the long drive I had the idea to express my love in the form of a haiku...seems someone else sorta had the same idea. So I thought I'd tiptoe around the internet and see what other IKEA goodies I could find.

- You can play the IKEA game (I only got 3 right and I was there today!)
- You can watch various different IKEA commercials that are not shown in the States (most for obvious reasons).
- You could plan your Toronto vacation around IKEA.
- You can watch a video from the opening of the 1st IKEA in Minnesota.

Enjoy!!

At last...

I'm not a political blogger. I can't always find the words to express myself in situations like these, certainly not as well as my fellow blogging friends. So I just don't. But a picture is always worth a thousand words and this picture was in my email this morning!

Setting the record straight

So, we always want what we can't have. Right?

Like Anne I always dreamed of having hair that was "a beautiful raven-black" and there was Flora with her lovely thick straight shining hair. She on the other hand thinks my colour is more interesting and loves my curls. But since we can't switch with each other her next heart's desire has always been to see my hair straight. So the girl bought a straight-iron and could not wait to take it to my hair.

Over a bottle of wine and an episode of Firefly (more blogging on that later since I'm hooked now and will HAVE to go see the movie coming out on the 30th)

THIS is what happened:

Revenge of the Screen Savers

So the trip to SF was a rousing success. Much fun had by all. Many pictures to be sorted through (although all are currently acting as my title suggests).

The first day there was spent primarily at Skywalker Ranch.

Flora's friend, who shall remain nameless, works indirectly for George. The upside of this is that we got to go hang out there for lunch and general lounging around. Given how many people supposedly work there I was surprised at how quiet the place was. Located north of the city in Lucas valley (which is NOT named for the man himself I was shocked to find out) the ranch is beautiful. Looks more like a country club than the Mecca of sci-fi magic. And the horses seemed happy to see us.

The library was most impressive. As was their collection of vinyl. Wow...this sure looks familiar. Raise your hand if you had this when you were young. C'mon. Admit it!

We followed that up by the A's soundly kicking the Yankees 12 -0. Someone at the ranch must have forseen that as this was what we found on the softball scoreboard earlier that day:

Then a late night showing of The Wedding Crashers. Oddly enjoyable until the end. Not so believable...mostly because there aren't that many good bridesmaid dresses out there!
